Maverick Purchasing Outsourcing (or Spot Buy outsourcing) is the transfer of responsibility for activities to a third party, with an obligation to result.
This service presupposes the integration of the basic services of a Purchasing function beforehand, to then entrust it, partially or in full, to a specialized service provider.

Within the framework of a multi-year contract, on a fixed basis, with a level of service and a defined duration, the outsourcing of purchases establishes a relationship customer/supplier between services that previously depended on the same management and thus creates a requirement of controllable result.

Procurement outsourcing, in particular because it permanently changes the boundaries of a company, by transferring all or part of certain purchasing activities, is different from subcontracting, which is more in line with an obligation of resources.

It can concern a wide range of services:

  • Procurement on one-off purchases of small amounts

BPO Purchasing (business process outsourcing) corresponds to the outsourcing of entire processes that are outsourced to global service providers for procurement activities.

There are hybrid forms (co-sourcing) which consist in the creation of a common structure for customers of the same service provider to manage outsourcing or alternative forms (ASP mode) where the application is rented, the processes remaining internalized.
