3 The Request for Information (RFI)

These relate mainly to the needs of the company and the market. Apart from price, time and quality, other criteria must also be taken into account in the sourcing suppliers, including:

  • the solvency of the supplier,
  • its reactivity in the event of a problem,
  • its ability to respond to an exceptional order,

  • its geographical proximity,
  • his references,
  • the breadth of its product range,

After listing the criteria, you can start writing the RFI or Request for Information. This document contains all the criteria you have selected to help you select the best suppliers. All that remains is to send it to the suppliers who have passed the first selection.

4 Gathering information for supplier sourcing

6 The analysis

These can be classified into 6 categories:

  • general information about the company: the number of employees, the number of years of experience, the location...
  • capacity information: production capacity, delivery times...
  • legal information: articles of association, capital, etc.
  • financial information: turnover, results...
  • the qualifications and skills of the supplier
  • certifications, labels, approvals and patents (CSR,...)

7 The constitution of the short list
